Chair City industrial sites often grew a visitor row without recounting accessible stalls. Retail strips added spaces along the building and forgot the aisle. Atlas counts today's total, then paints van-accessible stalls on the shortest route that is not a truck path.
Light-industrial and manufacturing lots along I-85 need ADA stalls that a visitor can use without crossing a dock lane. Retail and HOA lots in town fail more often on faded signs and 1991-era aisle widths. Davidson County does not publish a different stall table. The Thomasville fire official can still add a fire lane that changes where those stalls can sit.
The table has not been replaced
2010 is the name of the current federal design standard, not an expired year. The Department of Justice still uses the 2010 ADA Standards when a lot is restriped. North Carolina's 2024 State Building Code Chapter 11 Table 1106.2 lists the same accessible-space counts. Later ADA rules about websites do not change stall counts or aisle widths. Use the ADA parking-space calculator for a planning number, then we confirm it on the ground.
- Standard accessible aisle: 60 inches.
- Van-accessible aisle: 96 inches (or an 11-foot stall with a 60-inch aisle).
- At least 1 in every 6 accessible spaces must be van-accessible.
- Signs match the paint and sit at least 60 inches above grade.
- The accessible route to the entrance is part of compliance — paint alone is not enough.
How Atlas works a Thomasville lot
General lots follow §208.2. We do not invent extra Thomasville percentages. If the occupancy is outpatient medical, we apply the 10% or 20% rules. Signs are mounted at least 60 inches above grade and match the paint.
Plants often want weekends or third shift. Retail prefers overnight. HOAs can phase a court. Part of the lot can stay open.
Atlas is based in Greensboro and regularly works Thomasville light-industrial sites, retail strips, and HOA communities along the I-85 corridor. Nearby communities include High Point and Lexington-area communities. Call (336) 662-3312 or request a free on-site estimate. We do not publish prices.
